This course is arranged in collaboration with TKK Language Center. The course will be mostly in English but some lectures will be in Finnish as well. In case English teaching cannot be provided in some lecture the foreign students will receive special assignments on the topic under discussion.

Course objectives are:

To familiarise students with special characteristics of different cultures and their significance in the interaction between people in work community and in social intercourse
To raise awareness of the underlying and defining reasons for cultural differences

You have completed Cultures and Communication -course when:

You have attended the lectures (two absence allowed)
You have gone deeply into the special characteristics of a certain culture in groups and kept an oral presentation about the topic, preferably in English. The groups are also expected to present their work in writing.
